Due to an early onset of winter weather as well as a planning process on an adjacent property at the north end of Port Elgin, Larry Dunn, President of Dunn Capital Corporation and a principal with the Lord Elgin Estates Developments Ltd, said construction of the Holiday Inn Express has been delayed until the spring of 2020.

The Town has been wonderful to work with, said Dunn, by advancing water mains, as well as sanitary and storm drain services to the site.

"The fill pad is already done, the geo-technician says the land is good to go and fighting winter is too expensive," he said.

Dunn said he will use the first quarter of 2019 to complete an extension to the site plan to accommodate other tenants and he is now expecting a grand opening in the spring of 2020.
