Under the direction of Janice Coleman-Sanagan, art teacher in the Visual Art program at Saugeen District Secondary School, students were again given the chance to help promote a local event which aims to bring awareness to violence against women.

The annual vigil, hosted by the Canadian Federation of University Women (CFUW) Southport, will not only honour the 14 victims of a 1989 mass shooting at Montreal's École Polytechnique but will also bring the focus to former Saugeen First Nation resident Maisy Odjick who went missing 10 years ago.

Posters created by art students can be seen around Saugeen Shores, letting the public know that the vigil will be held in Coulter Parkette at noon December 6.
