A sure sign that summer is just around the corner is the start of the Port Elgin Farmers' Market, which will begin its seventh season this week, on Wednesday, June 6 from 9am to 2pm; and will continue every Wednesday until September 5.

The popular market, in conjunction with the Port Elgin BIA is located at Coulter Parkette, on the corner of Green and Goderich streets in downtown Port Elgin.

“We’re excited to have it again and bring people to the downtown core,” said Port Elgin BIA Coordinator Laura McInnes, adding that in addition to regular vendors from previous years such as local growers, meat producers and artisans, there will be new vendors as well.

McInnes said that the Town of Saugeen Shores was among the new vendors making a weekly appearance. “Like a community support booth, what’s going on in the community,” she explained.

McInnes added that she was also in talks with The Bowling Alley in Owen Sound. “They are looking into the possibility of bringing bounce castles every week,” she said.
