First of three hazardous waste days well received

Waste Segragation

The Town of Saugeen Shores in partnership with Bruce County offered the first of three household hazardous waste days on May 5 at the Southampton Works Yard.

Hub Staff

Organizers from the County of Bruce along with Saugeen Shores municipal staff all agreed that the first of three household hazardous and special waste events was well received and saw steady attendance.

The joint effort that took place on Saturday, May 5 at the Southampton Works Yard was organized with a one way in and out system as a means for residents to safely dispose of their hazardous household waste.

Two additional dates are planned: Saturday, August 11 from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. and Saturday, October 13 from 8 a.m. to 12 p.m. The Southampton Works Yard is located at 429 Peel Street in Southampton.

Household hazardous waste includes items such as batteries, paints and stains, household cleaners, propane tanks, antifreeze, pharmaceuticals, flourescent lights, fire extinguishers, pesticides, aerosols, and more.
