The 37th annual Rotary Home and Recreation Show, hosted by the Port Elgin Rotary Club, is in the books with figures exceeding previous years’ attendance.

The event, now in its fifth year at the Southampton Coliseum, saw vendors from across Bruce and Grey counties show their stuff April 7 and 8 with 2,500 people enjoying the sights of the show on the first day alone, surpassing the total weekend’s attendance for 2017.

The Food and Drink Expo in the adjoining Southampton Annex, now in its third year, was once again a heavily populated addition to the Home and Recreation Show and saw 11 local food vendors creating fantastic food samplers and drink vendors including Outlaw Brew Co. and Side Launch.

Port Elgin Rotary Club President Rob Dunlop said the two days were fantastic and counted over 800 people enjoying the Show on the second day. “I've talked to a lot of the vendors... and all of the food vendors and everyone’s been very happy,” said Dunlop April 8. “A lot of them have been returnees...there have also been ones who had been out in the last couple years and wanted back in again,” he added, also citing new vendors such the Owen Sound Bowling Alley Axe Throwing and Bruce County Custom Sheds who held their exhibits outside of the Coliseum.
