mitch mccallum 340 port elgin air cadetsMitch McCallum, right, received the Hamilton Flying Club Top Student Pilot Award March 6 in Port Elgin after achieving the highest mark in Ontario in the Flying Scholarship course last summer.

This past summer 340 Port Elgin Air Cadet Squadron Warrant Officer 1st Class Mitch McCallum qualified to take part in the Flying Scholarship course to become a pilot.

In a March 7 submission, not only did McCallum come in first place on his course, he achieved the highest mark in the province, being awarded the Hamilton Flying Club Top Student Pilot Award.

The award was presented to McCallum March 6, on behalf of the Ontario Provincial Committee, by the Regional Representative for the 340 Port Elgin Air Cadet Squadron Roxanne Schwandt and Commanding Officer Captain Robert Herborth.
