Representatives from Ontario Power Generation doled out over $25,500 to a variety of non-profit groups and charitable organizations in Saugeen Shores and Saugeen First Nation December 14 at the Bruce County Museum & Cultural Centre.

The Bruce County Museum received $10,000 for its 2018 feature exhibit in the OPG Gallery, “Animal Gibberish,” which is set to open in May 2018; $800 for its Family Heritage Day, and $1850 for its Eco Explores program.

The Saugeen First Nation Food Bank received a donation of $1,000 while the Saugeen First Nation Toy Drive was given $500.

Port Elgin Pumpkinfest received $6,000 for the Mad Science event which takes place inside the OPG Environmental Tent, and $1,400 went to the Southampton and Port Elgin Santa Claus parades in support of community band performances.

Donations were also presented to representatives from the Huron Shore Run ($1,000), Breakers Swim Team ($1,250), Port Elgin Salvation Army ($1,000), and although representatives from the Saugeen Shores Minor Hockey Association were absent, the club will receive $750.
