Once again the community is invited to feast together at the sixth annual Community Christmas Dinner happening Christmas Eve from 5 to 7pm at the Living Hope Centre in Port Elgin’s Maple Square Mall, 515 Goderich Street.
The dinner, which is prepared at the Queen’s Bar & Grill, served nearly 300 in 2016 through guests dining in as well as delivery for Saugeen Shores and Saugeen First Nation.
The free meal features a full turkey dinner with all the savoured sides and also comes with dessert. The food is provided by the Queen’s and is prepared by volunteers on December 24 and owner Pier Donnini is hoping to spread the word and extend and invite to everyone via social media.
“When we started this six years ago, there were some who worried we wouldn’t be able to get volunteers but the response has been overwhelming. Our biggest challenge is making sure we get the word out to everyone who would enjoy the meal and having them to come in or getting the meal to their door,” said Donnini, adding delivery requests can be made until December 21.
Delivery drivers and volunteers are still needed. Anyone interested in volunteering or placing a delivery request can contact 519-560-7618 or 519-832-6331 or email t.boulding@ridgenational.com.
