The Bruce County GIS Steering Committee is hosting a GIS (Geographic Information Systems) information event on Wednesday, November 15 from 1 to 4 p.m. in Port Elgin. The Town of Saugeen Shores and Bruce County are pleased to invite elected officials, municipal staff, school board representatives, and the public to learn about the future of GIS technology. The event will be held in Rotary Hall, at the Plex in Port Elgin.
“Not everyone understands the opportunity that GIS brings to local government,” said Laura Kranenburg, GIS Coordinator with the Town of Saugeen Shores, adding that there is power behind technologies that can make communities more knowledgable, more connected and help local government solve problems more quickly.
“From asset management to apps for residents to use, GIS technology offers endless possibilities,” she said.
Agenda headlines includes Asset Management, GIS is the Future, and Realize the Power of GIS to Solve Municipal Issues. An open forum will also take place offering those in attendance an opportunity to ask questions and learn from local experts.
Registration for the event is free. Those interested can preregister by contacting Laura Kranenburg at laura.kranenburg@saugeenshores.ca or by phone 519-832-2008 extension 108.
The Bruce County GIS Steering Committee includes upper tier representation, as well as lower tier representation from every municipality in Bruce County.
