SSPolice layered 560The Saugeen Shores Police Service recently solved a number of break, enter and thefts that have been occurring in the Saugeen Shores area.

In a November 7 media release, during the evening hours of October 16, a police officer on patrol observed a male riding a suspected stolen bicycle in the area of a remote residential property. The officer arrested the male for being in possession of property obtained by crime. He was also found to be in possession of a controlled substance. While in custody the male confessed to several break and enters.

The next morning, with assistance from the male, police attended at various locations in Saugeen Shores and were able to recover numerous stolen items that had been taken during break and enters to sheds, garages, businesses and residences throughout Saugeen Shores.

The items had been stashed in bush areas along trails in the community. Police recovered generators, power tools, air compressors, electronics and yard equipment. Many of the items have been returned to the victims. The value of the property is in excess of $20,000.

A male, age 42, from Saugeen Shores is facing 31 charges for various offences such as Break, Enter and Theft, Theft under $5000, Theft Over $5000 and Possession of Property Obtained by Crime.
