Two sugar maples have found a forever home at Biener baseball diamond in Port Elgin, thanks to the Port Elgin Rotary Club.

The trees can grow to be 12 to 14 feet in height and Rotary members were on hand September 13 with shovels and an excavator at the ball field just off Joseph Street.

Staff from Everest Nursery were able to use a specialized lift to put the two trees in ground in a few short minutes.

The Port Elgin Rotary Club donated $5,000 toward new dugouts at the Biener #2 diamond with proceeds from their annual Home Show in April.

Port Elgin Rotary Club President Rob Dunlop steadied the tree as it went into the ground.

The two trees were supplied by Everest Nurseries in Port Elgin and were planted with help from specialized equipment.

Rotarian Bill Welsh made quick work of the fill with his excavator.
