Streetscape improvements for High Street in Southampton were approved by Saugeen Shores Council during the August 28 Council meeting. The improvements will include bulb outs located at the intersections of Grosvenor and Huron Street and the mid-block to allow safer travel for pedestrians.
The project is be being carried out in cooperation with the Southampton BIA and will follow the Southampton Streetscape Plan Design. A town report stated that pre-construction notices have been sent to residents and businesses and further notice will be delivered prior to construction. The project is expected to be completed by the end of November, 2017.
The cost is projected at $72,766.42 with the tender going to Doug Welsh Construction Ltd. During the same Council meeting the construction company was awarded a second tender to complete the Lambert Lane Reconstruction Project to complete watermain upgrades and improvements to Lambert Lane from Adelaide to Peel Street. The second project is also slotted for November.
