There were a total of 134 incidents between January 30 and February 5, 2017.
Saugeen Shores Police Chief Dan Rivett wishes to remind motors that winter is back with some rain and freezing rain mixed in. From a February 9 media release, “Give yourself plenty of time to stop and drive defensively, drive safe.”
February 5
Police conducted RIDE in Saugeen Shores, no violations.
Police responded to a motor vehicle collision between two vehicles on Highway 21. Minor damage, no injuries.
February 4
Police arrested a 47 year old Cambridge male downtown Port Elgin for public intoxication. The male was issued a ticked and turned over to a friend who took him home.
Police responded to a fraud complaint at the Southampton Home Hardware. Three days earlier a male purchased $6,100 in patio furniture and it was found to have been done with a stolen credit card. A similar occurrence with what appears to be the same person occurred in Owen Sound. Police are investigating.
February 3
Police responded to a single vehicle collision at Waterloo and Joseph Street. A vehicle was travelling north on Waterloo Street and slid through the curve by Joseph Street, left the roadway and struck a tree. The 17 year old driver received a bump to the head and was later taken by family to the hospital to be checked out.
Police attended to the Saugeen Hospital and were advised by staff that there was an intoxicated person there who was aggressive and who would not leave. Police arrested a 55 year old Saugeen First Nation male for public intoxication and he spent the night in the cell.
February 1
Police responded to a motor vehicle collision at Goderich and Gustavus Street. Two school busses were travelling west on Gustavus Street and the first bus stopped for a red light. The second bus could not stop and slid into the first bus. The damage was minor to both busses and none of the combined 50 students on the busses was injured.
January 31
Police responded to a motor vehicle collision at Green and Goderich Street. A vehicle was travelling east on Green Street and stopped for a red light at Goderich Street. A second vehicle was also travelling east on Green Street and struck the rear of the stopped vehicle. Minor damage to both vehicles and the driver of the stationary vehicle was taken to hospital with neck pain.
Police conducted RIDE in Saugeen Shores. No violations, three Highway Traffic Act warnings were given.
January 30
Police responded to a motor vehicle collision on Ivings Drive. A vehicle pulled out of the LCBO parking lot and struck an eastbound vehicle. No injuries.
