SS Police7 fullOn January 2 at 9:27 a.m. police responded to the Missionary Church on Green Street in Port Elgin to a report of graffiti being sprayed on the building. The graffiti was in red paint and was a tag BKB. This is a new tag for a group that call themselves the Bruce Kounty Bloodz. The responsible youth will be assisting with the removal of the graffiti.

Saugeen Shores Police are reporting “some strange weather” in January creating very icy conditions on roads where the snow did not melt away.

From a January 13 media release, “Please give yourself plenty of time to slow and stop. One of the best ways you can protect yourself is to keep all your windows clear of ice and snow.”

There were a total if 84 incidents reported to Saugeen Shores Police between January 2 and January 8, 2017.

January 8

At 10:39 a.m. a 16 year old Guelph male was arrested on a warrant from Guelph Police. Guelph Police attended and took the male back to court in Guelph.

January 7

At 3:37 p.m. a snowmobile caught fire at 13/14 Sideroad north of Bruce Road 40. The Saugeen Shores Fire Service extinguished the fire. The snowmobile was destroyed, no injuries.

At 9:23 p.m. a driver lost control of his vehicle and entered the ditch on Concession 10 by Rowland’s Independent Grocer. No injuries, minor damage.

January 5

At 8:52 a.m. a bicycle was reported stolen from a residence on Goderich Street.

At 12:58 p.m. another bicycle was stolen from a residence on Goderich Street. This bike was returned.

January 4

At 3:19 p.m. police responded to a motor vehicle collision on Concession 10 and North Shore Road. At a time of high winds and poor road conditions, the vehicles collided at the bend at this intersection. One of the vehicles had to be towed. No injuries and no charges.

January 3

At 4:28 p.m. police received a report of a shoplifter at Canadian Tire where one female was held in custody. The second person, a male, was outside in their car. Investigation revealed they were in possession of methamphetamine. Both were charged with possession of methamphetamine, the female was charged with possession of stolen property and theft and the male was further charged with breaching a probation order.

At 5:44 p.m. police received a report of a shoplifter at Giant Tiger who had stolen something the day before had returned. This female was responsible for the theft. The female was arrested and found to be in possession of methamphetamine. She was charged with possession of methamphetamine, theft under and breach of probation.

January 2

At 5:15 p.m. police responded to a shoplifting complaint at Giant Tiger. A customer alerted store staff that two females had shoplifted clothing and boots and left the store. Security video captured the act and the licence plate of the vehicle the two females left in. Both females were identified. An 18 year old Kincardine woman faces theft charges. The other female has yet to be arrested.
