École Port Elgin Saugeen Central School (ÉPESC) Wildcats recently held their annual “Week of Giving”.
The week is being hailed a success as it allowed students and their families to support needs both locally and globally. To start, they collected $140 in Canadian Tire money which was matched and rounded up by the Mowbray family, turning into nearly $500.
Next, pockets and baggies of full of loose change quickly turned into $180. “Those toonies and loonies really added up,” reported Liz Sollars, Grade 8 teacher at ÉPESC.
Lastly, the Me2We group raised $2,240 through Rafiki Bead orders. Rafikis are hand beaded necklaces made by mamas in Kenya. The sale of the beads supports the mamas and also turns into more than $1,100 in donations to one of ÉPESC’s Me2We global initiatives.
In just one week, ÉPESC was able to provide some awesome support for many families at the Women’s House Serving Bruce and Grey, at the Ronald McDonald House in London and in communities around the world.
“We are very proud of all of our Wildcat families!”
