Update: Boston Pizza’s Trevor Spencer reported that over $1,300 was raised at their November 23 Ontario Student Nutrition Program (OSNP) fundraiser, more than double what they expected.

He wanted to extend a thank you to area businesses who supported the project, local media for helping to spread the word, and Principal Keith Walsh at St. Joseph’s School and Principal Bill Colley from Northport Elementary School.

“What a great community we live in,” said Spencer in an email.

Spencer also reported that at their November 30 fundraiser for Saugeen Shores Midget B Storm hockey team where 10% of the food purchases were donated to the Movember Foundation, $477 was raised.

Boston Pizza in Port Elgin will help feed students JK to Grade 12 as well as contribute to men’s health through two fundraising events this November.

On Wednesday, November 23, Boston Pizza will play host to an Ontario Student Nutrition Program (OSNP) fundraiser. OSNP helps to provide healthy food choices free of charge to school aged children throughout Bruce and Grey counties.

From 5 to 8 p.m., a Mix and Mingle will be held with samples from Boston Pizza and Outlaw Brew Co. with dinner and door prizes up for grabs from 7 to 8 p.m.

“We’re working with Northport and St. Joe’s,” said Trevor Spencer, Boston Pizza. “For a $10 donation [those in attendance] get four one-ounce samples, which will be Outlaw, and our new Sangria drink, Sangria Smash.” Spencer added that either a Coors, Molson or Labatt product will also be available.

Ten percent of all food sales between 5 and 8 p.m. will go to the OSNP. In addition, funds raised through a silent auction and door prizes which have been donated by local businesses will go in support of the cause.

Then on Wednesday, November 30, in cooperation with the Saugeen Shores Midget B Storm hockey team, a fundraiser will be held in support of the Movember Foundation.

The fundraiser will be held from 5 to 8 p.m. and Spencer said the Midget B team will be on hand to help out and “celebrity serve”.

Once again, 10 percent of the food sales will go to help a good cause with door prizes to give away.

Reservations are recommended for both events and can be made by calling 519-389-4009.
