Santa and Mrs. Claus paused for a photo op following the 2015 tree lighting ceremony in downtown Port Elgin.

Port Elgin Shoppers Night and Tree Lighting will take place on Thursday, November 17 with Christmas events continuing into Friday, November 18.
Port Elgin will kick off Christmas in Coulter Parkette with the annual lighting of the tree, followed by sales at local businesses.
The tree lighting is set to take place on Thursday at 7 p.m. with smores being offered from 6 to 8 p.m. by the Liv-A-Little Foundation.
Downtown stores will be open late and sleigh rides will be provided by Bicyclette Rouge from 6 to 8 p.m.
Families can visit with reindeer in Coulter Parkette or have their photo taken with the Trolley.
There will be a Makers’ Market upstairs at the Wismer House on Thursday from 6 to 9 p.m. and Cookies with Mrs. Claus will take place at the Wismer House on Friday, November 18 from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Donations to the Food Bank will be appreciated.
Continuing on Friday, the movie, Norm of the North will be showing at the Port Elgin Library on November at 2 p.m. and Breakfast with Santa is taking place at the Queen’s from 8 to 11 a.m. at a cost of $6 for kids and $10 for adults.
Sleigh rides sponsored by the BIA will take place on Friday as well from 12 to 3 p.m.
