SS Police2 fullThe Saugeen Shores Police Service is investigating a recent series of vehicle thefts and damage to vehicles.

From a November 7 media release, on October 27, Saugeen Shores Police located a vehicle in the Maple Square Mall parking lot that had been reported stolen by Kincardine Ontario Provincial Police (OPP).

On November 1, a 1999 GMC pickup was stolen from Clarendon Street in Southampton. This vehicle was recovered in Owen Sound and a suspect is in custody. This incident is not related to the other stolen vehicles or property damage.

On November 4 a 2011 Nissan Murano was stolen from Highland Street in Port Elgin. It was located on November 5 in a laneway on Creekwood Drive in Southampton, the same property from which a Toyota Tacoma was stolen.

On November 5 the Toyota was recovered in a laneway in Port Elgin.

Over this same three day period Saugeen Shores Police have investigated 10 vehicle entries where the side windows were broken out. Some of the vehicles had valuables in sight such as purses and wallets. From other vehicles a theft did not occur. Several other vehicles were entered and items were stolen. All three of the stolen vehicles from Saugeen Shores had keys left inside.

Saugeen Shores Police are investigating these matters and is asking anyone who witnesses suspicious activity in their neighbourhood to please call police at 519-832-2500 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477. If the matter is emergent, please call 911.
