Saugeen Shores Police reported a total of 102 incidents from March 28 to April 3.
On April 3, at 2:30 a.m., police were dispatched to a break and enter in progress on Joseph Street in Port Elgin. The complainant reported someone in his garage trying to enter the house. On arrival, police found an intoxicated female exiting the garage. It is believed that she had mistaken the residence for her own. She was held in custody until sober and charged under the Liquor Licence Act.
April 2, police received a complaint of a theft from the Rexall Pharmacy on Goderich Street in Port Elgin. A short time later the suspect and vehicle were located by police at the Shoppers Drug Mart plaza. A female, age 30 from Hanover and a male, age 35, from Southampton were arrested after being found in possession of stolen property. Police executed a search warrant at a motel where the couple had been staying and seized more stolen property.
The female has been charged with Theft, Possession of Stolen Property, Failing to Comply with an Undertaking and with Possession of a Controlled Substance.
The male has been charged with Possession of Stolen Property, Fail to comply with Probation, Obstruct Police, Possession of a Controlled Substance and Possession for the Purpose of Trafficking.
On March 31, at 1:30 a.m., police investigated a suspicious vehicle parked in the Shoppers Drug Mart plaza while the businesses were closed. Officers detected an odour of marijuana from the vehicle and the driver admitted to having just smoked a joint. A bag of marijuana was seized from the vehicle and a female, age 29, from Milton, was charged with Possession of a Controlled Substance.
Police attended on Grenville Street in Southampton for hydro wires down and smoking. Fire and Police stood by until Westario attended for repairs.
On March 30 at 11:30 p.m., police attended at a break and enter on Albert Street in Southampton. The complainants reported that they had left the apartment in the early afternoon and when they returned at 10:30 p.m., they found the apartment door kicked in. Nothing was reported missing.
On March 29, police attended at a motor vehicle accident on Carlisle Street. A vehicle southbound on Carlisle Street approaching the stop sign at Bruce Road 3 was rear ended by another vehicle. The driver of the second vehicle was taken to hospital in Southampton. She was also arrested for Impaired Driving. Breath test results were over the legal limit. A female, age 24, from Saugeen Shores was charged with Impaired Driving and Driving with over the legal limit.
