sdssskills fullFrom left McLean Reid, Shiann Booth, Jared Woods, Saugeen District Secondary School students who placed third, first and second respectively in the Electrical Wiring category at the Regional Technological Skills Challenge held recently in Owen Sound.

Students from both Bluewater District School Board and the Bruce Grey Catholic District School Board had an opportunity to shine at the 12th Annual Regional Technological Skills Challenge, held on Friday, April 1 in Owen Sound. Approximately 100 students, each enrolled in technological education courses in Bruce and Grey counties, participated and under the meticulous surveillance of experienced local industry judges, competed in a multitude of diverse categories, ranging from carpentry and welding to culinary and hairstyling.

Three Saugeen District Secondary School students took the top three spots in Electrical Wiring with Shiann Booth taking first place in the category, Jared Woods taking second, and McLean Reid third. Booth, along with 22 other students from Bruce Grey, will advance to the Ontario Technological Skills Competition in Waterloo, May 3.

Other schools to take prizes were, Chesley District Community School, West Hill Secondary School, John Diefenbaker Senior School, St. Mary’s High School, Grey Highlands Secondary School, Kincardine District Secondary School, Sacred Heart High School. For full results visit bwdsb.on.ca.
