Men of Saugeen Shores are once again being invited to “walk a mile” for the 4th annual Walk a Mile in Her Shoes fundraiser.
Community minded men who are brave enough to step into a pair of women’s heels will take a pledge to help end violence against women on Sunday, May 28 at the Queen’s Bar & Grill in Port Elgin, followed by a walk to raise awareness. Proceeds from the event will go to benefit Women’s House Serving Bruce and Grey (WHSBG).
Similar events are happening in Owen Sound (June 5, Harrison Park) and Hanover (June 18, Rotary Club hosting at Queen’s Bush Pub), benefitting The Women’s Centre Grey and Bruce Inc.
Last year the walks raised over $20,000 for both shelters.
This high profile fundraiser has been “walking” all over North America where men participate and champion to end abuse and sexual violence against women by walking the walk and talking the talk and gaining sponsors from friends, family, co-workers and employers. Shoes are provided.
