Maddie Hobson (L) and Rahul Panyda, 340 Port Elgin Air Cadet squadron, will be heading to Kinardine April 2 to take part in the Regional Effective Speaking Competition.
On Tuesday, March 22, the 340 Port Elgin Air Cadet squadron held the local Effective Speaking competition. Cadets, Rahul Pandya and Maddie Hobson participated with an impromptu speech given by Jared Kerr.
Rahul’s topic was “What do you see as Canada’s future?” while Maddie chose the topic, “The importance of community service and citizenship activities.” Both gave very articulate and heart felt speeches.
After they spoke, they were each given a random, previously unknown topic chosen by the judges and had two minutes to speak. They had to think on their feet and both proved this an easy task.
Cadet Jared Kerr wanted an opportunity to speak on the same random topic and did so beautifully.
Cadets, Pandya and Hobson will go on to represent 340 squadron at the Regional Effective Speaking Competition held in Kincardine on April 2.
