Cake, prizes and official Pumpkinfest sunglasses were just some of the items given out at this year’s Pumpkinfest Volunteer Appreciation gathering at the Colonial Motel October 18.
This annual event is a time for the Pumpkinfest Board to give thanks to its volunteers that helped out during the two-day festival earlier in October.
Many Pumpkinfest vendors donated items that were given away as prizes, and Pumpkinfest Coordinator Mandy Sebok, along with her fellow Board members made a few of the snacks. Sebok said it was the least they could do to thank the hundreds that helped out that weekend.
“During the event we all went around the room and told our own Pumpkinfest story, each person added their favourite part. To be honest my favourite part was seeing the community come together to help us out yet again,” Sebok said.
She added, “from the students that are getting their volunteer hours to the adults that have been with us for over 26 years, I can’t give thanks enough, we wouldn’t be able to do this without them.”
Pumpkinfest Chair Brad Scott said his favorite part was not dropping a giant pumpkin before it got weighed.
The Board asked the group for suggestions and comments that they could take with them to their year-end meeting, which takes place October 19.
