One-hundred post-secondary school students have received a $500 boost for their education from Bruce Power.
Recipients of the annual Bruce Power Scholarship were recognized at a breakfast on Tuesday, August 11, at the Bruce Power Visitors’ Centre. Duncan Hawthorne, Bruce Power’s President and CEO, presented those in attendance with their certificates and $500 during the event.
“Bruce Power is proud to play a role in the post-secondary education of these impressive students from Bruce, Grey and Huron counties,” Hawthorne said. “Our Scholarship Committee had a very difficult job of picking only 100 winners from an unbelievable crop of over 300 applicants.”
The selection committee was comprised of 10 Bruce Power employees from a variety of departments and levels. The applications were reviewed with system-generated reference numbers to remove any name, location or other potential biases, and all personal information was removed to ensure anonymity.
