Local radio station, 97.9 The Bruce, will once again be hosting Saugeen Memorial Hospital Foundation's (SMHF) annual Light the Way Radiothon in support of their Bring Tom to Town campaign.
"Join us as we Rock the Bruce for 12 straight hours of music, stories, a put our listeners live on the air," read a recent media release from SMHF. The Radiothon will be held on Thursday, December 9 from 6am to 6pm with prizes to be won throughout the day and auction items include a four pack of Raptors tickets.
Listeners can drop by the station to make a donation and enjoy some coffee, or call 519-832-GIVE to donate. The goal is to raise $200,000.
“The Light the Way campaign this year will be in support of the CT Scanner fundraising campaign 'Bring Tom To Town,'" said the Foundation's Executive Director Tracy Murray, adding that, if successful, the $3 million campaign would see the scanner brought to the hospital in Saugeen Shores, a benefit to people across Bruce County.
"Currently the CT scanner in Owen Sound is running over capacity and wait times are increasing," Murray continued. "The new CT scanner in Saugeen Shores would off-set some of the more routine patient traffic from the Owen Sound machine so that wait times for some of the more specialized CT scans and procedures will be reduced and more of these types of scans could be done," she added.
