An information report outlining a proposal for a COVID-19 vaccine clinic in Saugeen Shores was received by the Saugeen Shores Committee of Whole February 8. In a Town of Saugeen Shores media release, the municipality has shared the draft plan, which presents options for delivering a concentrated vaccination effort in Saugeen Shores, with the intention to assist and offer support to the Grey Bruce Health Unit (GBHU).
Public Health is responsible for the administration of vaccines to residents of Grey and Bruce counties.
Mayor Luke Charbonneau said that in working with community partners, the Nuclear Innovation Institute (NII) and Unifor, they have been able to identify several facilities within Saugeen Shores that could be used for a vaccination centre.
“Saugeen Shores will support the regional effort to mitigate the spread of the virus and deliver vaccines in any way we can," added the mayor.
The draft plan has been offered to the GBHU for their consideration.
