Some members from Team Southampton Care Centre presented Chris Doyle (left) of the Grey Bruce Alzeimer’s Society with $2125.20 after winning the second annual Care Cup.
Many boots were made for walkin’ as Team Southampton Care Centre participated in the 2017 Alzheimer’s Walk for Memories’ Care Cup Challenge raising over $2,000.
Residents in the Jarlette Health Care owned facility have hosted their own walk since 2008 and. In 2016 the Alzheimer’s Society began offering up the Care Cup Challenge to the other 19 long term care homes in Grey Bruce and the team from Southampton Care Centre rose to the challenge winning the inaugural Care Cup.
Hosting the event in-house provides the residents, staff, families and volunteers with an opportunity to participate together and enjoy fitness, music, socialization and of course some ice cream sundaes to celebrate after the event.
Donations from the 2017 Walk puts Team Southampton Care Centre over the $10,000 mark.
