Bruce Power announced October 3 that it has agreed to a $58 million contract with Nuvia Canada Inc., which will provide radiation protection services in support of all programs during execution of the Major Component Replacement (MCR) Unit 6 project. Bruce Power’s Life Extension Program is Canada’s largest infrastructure project.
In a Bruce Power media release, under the contract, Nuvia will provide core services to perform the duties of direct radiation protection assistance for assigned work. The Toronto-based company will execute these services in support of all programs during the Unit 6 refurbishment where radiation protection is required, as well as other activities including licensed source handling and the transfer and receipt of designated materials.
Earlier this year, Nuvia opened a new Radiological Protection Training Centre/Project office in Tiverton, and started training technicians in preparation to support Bruce Power.
