Hundreds of excited shoppers lined the length of the Southampton Coliseum and beyond August 24, ready for the doors to be opened for Sisters on Huron's 14th annual Warehouse Sale.
Sisters owner Delores Sullivan said this year's Sale included approximately 17,000 items with discounts up to 80% off. “We have 150 luxury coats that were made just for us and there were four lines that were manufactured just for this event,” she said.
As has been the case for the past 13 years, Southampton summer residents, 96 year old Marg Davis and her daughter Heather Burling, were first in line for the three day sale. “I'm still looking for a bargain,” joked Davis.
The pair arrived at 7:20 a.m. ready for the doors to open at 9 a.m. “People then came along about 7:30 and [the line up] started building up,” said Burling, adding that the mother daughter pair have always been lucky with the weather. “It's never rained on the Friday of the sale," she said.
Dale Sherwood and Janie Boyd of the Saugeen Memorial Hospital Auxiliary were collecting donations at the door and handing out bags to eager shoppers. “We've been doing this for a number of years here now,” said Sherwood, adding that they collect between $1,000 and $2,000 for the Auxiliary each year.
The Warehouse Sale continues Friday until 9 p.m., Saturday from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. and Sunday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.
