A variable mix of talent filled the Southampton Town Hall as Bruce County Playhouse kicked-off its third year of hosting their Sunday Showcase events January 28. From feats of strength to vocals made famous by Brits to fiddlers getting hands clapping and toes tapping, it was standing room only and the largest audience to date.
For the first time dancers from SB Dance Academy in Port Elgin took part in the Sunday Showcase performing five routines for the crowd. Performer Curtis McEwan sang a few hits while playing guitar and Mike and Kerri O’Neil did a reading. Flutist Jacqueline Kippers performed, Samantha Colwell-Castles, Christine John, and Natalie Robitaille all sang while guitarist Bruce Vander Kleyn accompanied many while also working the sound. Longtime Showcase performer David Udall got the audience participating.
The second and third Sunday Showcase will take place on February 25 and March 25, getting underway at 2 p.m. The events feature unscripted local talent performing music, dance, storytelling, comedy and drama. Admission is free for Talenteers while audience members pay $5 at the door.
