Art and words come together in the newest exhibit at the Bruce County Museum and Cultural Centre. Entitled My Story, My Tattoo, this travelling show from Wellington County Museum and Archives (WCMA), features 32 photographs of people and their tattoos.

In a Bruce County Museum and Cultural Centre media release, the exhibit includes four audio stations, six videos and 30 text panels. The exhibit opens with a special “members only sneak peek” on Friday, November 3, is open to the public November 4, and is proudly presented by Kate Cammidge-Irwin and Susan Terry of Re/Max Land Exchange in Port Elgin, exclusive representatives of Westlinks.

The exhibit reveals that tattoos are living images that tell important stories about residents, communities and the tattoo phenomenon with participants representing many walks of life - from a cancer survivor to teachers and their students, a firefighter and a farmer. All of the individuals were open and honest, and their stories and personalities are represented through this series of thought-provoking and colourful images. Chris Piccinetti, a Guelph photographer and graphic designer for the County of Wellington, photographed the images.

“We are excited to bring such a compelling exhibit to Bruce County,” said Cathy McGirr, Director, Museum and Cultural Services. “By hosting this travelling exhibit from Wellington County Museum and Archives we not only support our museum colleagues
from Wellington, but allow our visitors to experience this exhibit closer to home.”

“My Story, My Tattoo” will be on display through January 31, 2018. The Museum is open Tuesday to Saturday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.
