Continuous rainfall could not dampen the spirits of families attending the sixth annual Liv-A-Little Foundation’s Easter Egg Hunt at Saugeen Golf Club April 15. Rubber boots and rain coats allowed adventurous families to stay dry while participating in outdoor games; while others coloured with their families indoors and were able to get their faces painted by members of the Liv-A-Little Foundation.

“It’s not a Liv-A-Little event if it’s not raining, joked Erin Little, President of the Liv-A-Little Foundation.

Thousands of eggs were strewn about Saugeen Golf’s driving range, where even the Easter Bunny himself made an appearance and gave out a few hugs. Erin Little said she had her “ins” with the Bunny so he was able to attend at the right time.

The Easter event saw 60 tickets sold and is one of many events designed to raise funds and awareness for cystinosis research, a rare metabolic disease that affects just 75 children and young adults in Canada. Among them, Olivia Little of the Little family.

In 2016 the Liv-A-Little Foundation raised $220,000 and earlier this month went to California to give that money to the Cystinosis Research Foundation.

Erin Little said the trip to California went well. “Lots of researchers came out and talked and we learned some new things and new approaches and future treatments for [Olivia],” she said. “Lots of good stuff about the cure to come so it’s just a matter of time.”
