The Bruce County Playhouse is beginning to gain a following at its Sunday Showcases, as was the case during the theatre company’s third Showcase, May 1 at Southampton Town Hall.
Just shy of 30 people came to the Southampton Town Hall to enjoy the Arts or perform. Bruce County Playhouse Artistic Director Natalie Robitaille opened the show preforming Time After Time, with help from guitarist Bruce Vander Kleyn. Duo, Between the Rafters, played a Peter Frampton classic, while barista for the event Danielle Gomes, set aside her coffee duties for a time to perform a lively version of the Dolly Parton classic Jolene.
Master of Ceremonies, Leslie McNamara addressed the crowed, proud of how far the Playhouse had come in two short years. “Wherever you go, wherever you watch, you know already that we have amazing talent, and we just put the word out. We said, ‘we’re going to do an unscripted afternoon, if anyone who wants to participate please come along, you're more than welcome.’ We’ve had new acts every single Showcase,” said the delighted McNamara.
Tickets for the Bruce County Playhouses’ summer programs went on sale May 1. From July 8-23, the playhouse will perform The Love List. The August show will be Shirley Valentine, running August 5-13. If theatre goers would like to see both productions, there is a discount when tickets to both shows are purchased together.
