The Southampton Rotary Club held their 14th Annual Rotary Dinner Auction on October 17 at the Walker House in Southampton, a charity fundraiser which included both a live and silent auction.
Auctioneer and Rotary President Pat O'Connor said this is the club's premiere fundraiser and this year, with 130 people in attendance to the sold out event, approximately $20,000 was raised to go towards local and international Rotary projects.
A long list of items were donated by local businesses, including two Sisters on Huron $500 gift certificates which were auctioned for 125 percent of their value, Lunch with Mayor Mike Smith, an opportunity to co-host the morning show with Brian Longmire at 98 The Beach and a cantilever parasol from Martin's Home Hardware.
Other items included lunch at the parliamentary restaurant and a tour of parliament with Ben Lobb, a New Orleans Jazz Experience and a $1,000 rail excursion donated by Via Rail.
A community art piece was created at the event itself by artist Susan Seitz, who encouraged everyone in attendance to put their mark on it. The piece was auctioned off for a winning bid of $375 and went to Jenny Amy of Chantry Breezes Bed & Breakfast in Southampton.
