WomensHouse 560In an ongoing effort to fill the gap between government funding and the budgetary requirements at the Women’s House Serving Bruce and Grey (WHSBG) and to continue providing programs and services for women and children who have experienced abuse, organizers are once again hosting their International Women’s Day Celebration event on Saturday, March 3 at Lakeshore Recreation in Port Elgin.

From delicious hors d’oeuvres, signature drinks, decadent dessert buffet, silent and live auctions and lots of prizes, there is plenty to do at the fundraising event that is set to get underway at 6:30 p.m.

The Trivia Game has returned with the winner taking home a BOSE Soundlink Revolve, donated by Bruce Power and valued at $350.

And of course the coveted Woman of Distinction Award and Young Woman of Distinction Award will be announced.

This year’s keynote speaker is originally from Kincardine. Kendra Fisher is a dynamic and informative speaker who will share her story about a journey from growing up in a small town, to recruitment onto a national hockey team, destined to represent our country, to a devastating realisation and eventually finding herself, on the other side of the darkness. She is now Breaking the Silence about mental illness and women's stereotypes.

"One of the best keynote speakers I've ever experienced, I can't wait to hear her again,” said Lori Harding, WHSBG Board Chair.

Tickets are $50 each and can be purchased by calling Michelle Lamont at 519-396-9814 extension 225 or email mlamont@whsbg.on.ca.
