saugeen shores logo 560Saugeen Shores Council has tentatively approved the 2018 budget with a blended tax rate increase of 3 percent. In a Town of Saugeen Shores media release, the increase of approximately $90 per average household, will maintain service levels, while building capacity for future projects.

The budget increase aligns with two priorities of the Corporate Strategic Plan (Build Waterfront Capital Investment and Maintain Facilities and Infrastructure) as well as with the Waterfront Master Plan.

“The 2018 budget will help to minimize the need for debt required to complete infrastructure work. This is a proactive budget and takes responsibility for the needs of our community,” said Mayor Mike Smith.

Final approval is expected in February 2018.
