SMHF logo FullColour 56098 The Beach in Saugeen Shores and the Saugeen Memorial Hospital Foundation, are pleased to announce a special one-day Radiothon to help raise money for some needed equipment at the Southampton Hospital.

Thursday, December 15 has been named Light the Way Day in Saugeen Shores. Businesses and services in Port Elgin and Southampton will be displaying “Light the Way” signs to remind you to give generously to the $150,000 campaign.

98 The Beach will be the site of a 12-hour Radiothon and you can take part by calling in on December 15 between 6 a.m. and 6 p.m. or by dropping into the station at 382 Goderich Street in Port Elgin. Saugeen Memorial Hospital Foundation volunteers will be answering phones and will also be available in person to talk with donors.

“98 the Beach is honoured to be a part of this important fundraiser for such a worthy cause such as the Hospital Foundation,” said 98 The Beach Operations Manager Mike Brough.

The Radiothon provides an opportunity to share stories about patients, nurses, doctors, administrators, as well as to highlight the difference having a hospital in our local community makes to Saugeen Shores residents and visitors alike. Residents are invited to call in and talk about that special nurse or doctor or perhaps a special moment of care that they may have received at the hospital.

Hospital Foundation Executive Director Sally Kidson said, “This generous community has always been a part of special fundraisers for good causes. Raising $150,000 through Light the Way will help the hospital keep up to date with new equipment, making the local facility a first-rate health care hub in Bruce County.”

Kidson reported that as of December 12, the Foundation had reached $61,000 of their $150,000 goal.
