Local Saugeen Shores firefighters and police officers took to the ice in a friendly match-up for the second annual Guns and Hoses Benefit Hockey Game for Victim Services Bruce Grey Perth November 12 at the Plex.

For the second year in a row the “Hoses” beat the “Guns” “hoses”, with a score of 3-2, but it wasn't an easy victory, as the game went into overtime. With seconds left on the clock, Firefighter Craig Johnson tied the game for the Hoses. Playing for the Guns, Derek King was the lone scorer for his team with Nathan Parrett scoring for the Hoses in the first and Adam Shular making the winning shot in overtime.

The all-in-fun fundraising event began with a free family skate prior to the game. Between the second and third period, the Storm Novice Girls team entertained the moderate crowd with a 5 minute game and youngster Adam Perry won the puck toss and a Tim Horton’s gift certificate.

In the Rotary Hall, volunteers for Victim Services Bruce Grey Perth held a silent auction and bake sale with proceeds going towards charitable organization that provides assistance to victims of crime and tragic circumstances.

At the time of publication, the total amount raised was not yet known, however, in its inaugural 2015 event, the game raised $1,817 while playing to a smaller crowd.
