Business is blooming for Tiverton’s 7Acres and hundreds of job seekers attended the marijuana cultivators’s Job Fair May 6 at the Plex in Port Elgin. Courtney Poulin, Human Resources (HR) Manager for 7Acres, said the business is retrofitting their entire greenhouse and currently has two grow rooms online and hopes by the end of 2018 to have 28 to 30 rooms, at 10,000 square feet apiece, featuring an array of strains.

“We’re specifically sourcing growers and sanitation technicians,” said Poulin during the Job Fair May 6. The HR Manager said they were expecting people from all walks of life and backgrounds. “At the same time we’re looking for people who have management potential because as we’re expanding we’re going to need more and more people in those supervisory type roles.”

From the May 6 crop of applicants, approximately 64 job seekers will be contacted to return May 7 for a 25 minute interview. From the interviews, Poulin hopes to fill 20 roles. “I'm sure if there is someone who’s outstanding and they’re above that 20 then we will just bring them on, as we don’t want to lose them.”

7Acres currently has 60 employees and will fill approximately 60 roles by December of 2017. Poulin said that once operations are “full steam” 7Acres could have 300 employees.
