Breakers McDonalds Large Group

The Port Elgin Breakers Swim Team took part in the 2019 McDonald’s Team Challenge Swim Meet November 17 and 18. In a Breakers press release, the meet was hosted by the Owen Sound Aquatic Club and took place at the Julie McArthur Regional Recreation Centre.

The Breakers team had 17 swimmers competing and finished with a Top 8 finish in 38 different events. Each of the 17 swimmers came away with at least two Personal Best (PB) times and 10 of the swimmers brought home a Top 8 finish. The team finished with a fifth place overall score.

In the 8 and Under age group Daniele Smith finished with seven PB times and an eighth place finish in the 12 and Under Girls 100m Backstroke.

In the 9 and 10 Year Old age group, Tarrace Reinwald finished with two PB times.

In the 11 and 12 Year Old Girls, Luna Abbott, Emma Aldridge, Brooklyn Banks, and Kenzie Bourassa all finished the event with six PBs respectively. Kenzie Bourassa also placed fifth in the 12 and Under Girls 200m Individual Medley, as well as eighth in the 12 and Under Girls 50m Butterfly.

Sharvanni Shankar finished with an impressive four PB times. Cassie Richardson and Kaitlyn Meleskie both finished the weekend with two PBs each.

In the 11 and 12 Year Old Boys, Owen Richardson received five PBs as well as sixth place in the 12 and Under Boys 200m Individual Medley and 50m Freestyle.

In the 13 and 14 Year Old Boys age group, Matthew Bull brought home five PB times including a first place finish in the 13 and over 100m Backstroke. Bull also received a second place finish in the 50m Freestyle, 200m Breaststroke, 200m Freestyle, and 50m Backstroke; and placed third in 100m Freestyle and 200m Individual Medley; and a fourth place finish in the 100m Butterfly.

In the 15 and Over Females, Aurora Jacobi finished with seven PB times and placed fifth in 100m Backstroke, sixth in 200m Freestyle, seventh in the 100m Breaststroke, and eighth in the 50m Freestyle.

Hannah Kent received four PBs, fourth in the 200m Backstroke, and eighth place finishes in the 100m Backstroke, 50m Backstroke, and 200m Individual Medley.

Michelle Wang also received four PB times, as well as third in 50m Freestyle, fourth in 100m Freestyle, fifth in 100m Butterfly, and sixth place in both the 50m Breaststroke and the 50m Butterfly. Wang finished strong with a seventh place finish in the 50m Backstroke.

In the 15 and Over Males, Zachary McEwen had three PBs, third in the 50m Freestyle, fourth in the 200m Backstroke, fifth in both the 100m Backstroke and 200m Freestyle, sixth in the 50m Backstroke, and an eighth place finish in the 50m Freestyle.

Brady Phillips had a strong weekend with four PB times, sixth in the 50m Breaststroke, and eighth in 50m Breaststroke.

Braydon Reid finished the weekend with two PBs, sixth in both the 100m Breaststroke and 200m Freestyle, and seventh in the 50m Freestyle.

The Breakers competed at the Trojan Cup November 29 to December 1 in Barrie and will be participating in the Hello Winter competition December 13 and 15 in Markham.
