The Saugeen Shores Women and Men’s Slo-Pitch league have hit a home run for the Liv-A-Little Foundation raising funds through its Sock it to Cystinosis fundraiser being held during its playoff tournament August 23 to 25 with games being played at Cameron, Lakeview, Jubilee, Biener, and Unifor ball diamonds.
In a Liv-A-Little media release, Saugeen Shores Councillor and slo-pitch player Kristan Shrider organized the fundraiser and ordered more than 600 pairs of purple socks that were purchased by teams and players in both the men’s and ladies league, with $10 from each purchase going to support the foundation.
Shrider said the response from the local players has been outstanding and that the majority of teams and players in both leagues will be Socking it to Cystinosis on the diamond by wearing the purple socks throughout the weekend.
“The Liv-A-Little Foundation has always been a cause that is close to my heart,” Shrider continued. “Our community tends to wrap our arms around Chad, Erin, Olivia, and Harper and our men’s and ladies slo-pitch league is very proud to be part of this fundraiser on our upcoming playoff weekend.”
Liv-A-Little Foundation founder Erin Little said she couldn’t be more grateful to Shrider for promoting this idea and for the ball community for all of the love.
“We will beat Cystinosis because of our community,” Little said.
