In their first home game September 27, the Saugeen District Secondary School (SDSS) Royals battled the Owen Sound District Secondary School (OSDSS) Wolves resulting in a final score of 15-15.

Following last season with no wins, the team has been practicing since August and is seeing big improvements in their overall team play.

The game was an emotional roller coaster by all accounts with Flynn Colwell Castles scoring the only touchdown of the game and Yuki Yao scoring the other points, two field goals, a conversion kick and two rouges.

Strong play from the defense kept the Wolves off the scoreboard in the second half.

Gavin Hemstock, Hunter Barnard, Quinn Fowler all contributed to the team's success with the top performers being Dre Wannamaker, Lewis Hendry and Garrett Hall.

The Royals beat the Grey Highlands Lions September 21 with a final score of 8-3 and are set to take on BAA champs, St. Mary's Mustangs, at home on Thursday, October 4.
