Port Elgin native and baseball pitcher Jack Middleton has signed his letter of intent with George Brown College in Toronto for the fall of 2018.

Middleton started his AAA career as an underage player for the Western Ontario Bulls at the 2014 Ontario Summer Games in Windsor, Ontario.

In 2015 he started for the Stratford Indians Bantam team in the Inter County Baseball Association.

For the 2016 season Middleton pitched for the Ontario Blue Jays U16 team in the Canadian Premier Baseball League. His highlight that summer was throwing a one hitter at the Wood Bat Championship in Houston, Texas.

2017 marked Middleton's return to Stratford and coach Tom Valcke for his first year of Midget AAA baseball, again in the Inter County Baseball Association, the season's highlight being a one-hitter at the Oshawa Midget Classic in the championship game for the win.

For the summer of 2018 Middleton is pitching and playing again for the Stratford Nationals Midget team and currently has an undefeated season as a starting pitcher.

“Coach Valcke also was head coach for George Brown in 2017. I love playing for him so signing with that College became an easy decision,” said Middleton. “I will be a starting pitcher in my freshman year and that is the kind of challenge that I needed to get better faster."

Middleton said the George Brown is also known for their business programs, something for which he was looking.
