Plex Ball Hockey Action

Ball hockey is gaining in popularity in Saugeen Shores with play happening, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday at the Plex.

Clearly there is truth to the rumour of a population explosion in Saugeen Shores. Look no further on this than at the Plex on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Fridays as children’s ball hockey is racing ahead in popularity with 260 registrants ages 3 to 12 as of May 15.

Organizer Jeff Carr said that the first hour of Tuesday nights, 5 p.m. to 6 p.m., are for 3 and 4 year olds, followed by followed by the 5 and 6 year olds until 7 p.m. Thursdays from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. are for Novice ages 8 and 9 and Friday’s three hour time slot is reserved for the 11 and 12 year old Peewees.

Carr said “registration has exceeded my expectations,” and believes there are a few spaces remaining in some of the age groups. He expressed his thanks to Matt Mulholland and Melissa Carr of KNK Lawn Care for their uniform sponsorship.

Frankie Dent about to score

Frankie Dent confirmed his enjoyment of the hour and can be seen sizing up his shot. To hear it from him he had several goals and maybe five while his mother Karen suggested three as a good number.

Hudsyn Carr managed a hat trick May 15 while Brynn Robinson was happy to have scored her first goal, proving the old idiom - practice makes perfect.
