Wayne Tuck Jr’s rink out of Brantford traded leads with the rink skipped by Dayna Deruelle, former two time champion, until a seventh end, when a score of 2 went to the blue rocks, breaking the tie and providing the Brantford rink with the championship and a first place prize of $5,000. The 36th annual Super Spiel was held at the Port Elgin Curling Club November 17 to 19.

Deruelle’s rink curled to a second place finish and $2,500.

In an earlier Saturday draw #5 the same two battled with Tuck providing clear warning his foursome were up and ready for the challenge with an 8-4 final score.

Port Elgin's Matt Glandfield and David Gravelle’s rink’s provided early formidable competition losing close games and in one defeated with a last rock winner.

Of additional note was an unexpected Saturday draw #7 upset of pre-tournament favourite Codey Maus by the Ainsley rink 7-5.
