Two popular Saugeen Shores sports will collide on August 5 at Lakeshore Recreation and the Pines at the Dual Sport Tournament co-hosted by the Saugeen Shores Winterhawks and Social Athletics of Saugeen Shores.
The six-on-six tournament will see teams play dodgeball inside the courts at the recreation centre and volleyball in the parking lot, with Ackert Construction providing sand.
The tournament, a fundraiser for the Saugeen Shores Winterhawks, came from the popularity of other tournaments in Ripley and Kincardine and Winterhawks President Gord Lamont said it was something the Winterhawks have been thinking of for a while. “Every person doesn't have to play both sports, they can drop some, pick someone up to play, but each team is supposed to play both [sports],” he said.
The cost per team is $240 and registration can be done online.
The Dual Sport Tournament is the second fundraising event to take place this summer for the Saugeen Shores Wintehawks with Lakeshore Recreation having played host to a Canada Day party on July 1.
Lamont said that although fan support is good for the Saugeen Shores team, expenses continue go up.
