The sixth annual Port Elgin Ladies Fastball Tournament will get underway Friday evening, June 2 and run through the weekend.
Eight teams will play on two diamonds in Saugeen Shores with the tournament headquarters being located at the Lakeview Park. Teams from Port Elgin, Milverton, Palmerston, Keady, Chepstow as well as returning champions, the London Lightning, are among participating teams.
Organizers would like to extend a warm welcome to returning umpiring crew from the Golden Horseshoe Umpires Association who have been with the tournament since its inception in 2012.
In addition the league will be hosting a short series of exhibition games featuring former World Softball Champions, the Port Elgin Blue Devils, as well as showcasing some local minor girls fastball talent. On Saturday teams will partake in a planned skills and team building competitions.
Lakeshore Recreation will host a licensed garden area at Lakeshore Park.
Games will get underway at 7 p.m. on Friday, June 2 and run from 8 a.m. to 11 p.m. on Saturday, June 3 and from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Sunday, June 4.
