The Saugeen Shores Winterhawks have their backs to the wall after a 3-2 loss to the Clinton Radars on a stormy Friday night at The Plex.

The Radars take a 3-2 series lead home with Game 6 of the series scheduled for Saturday night in Clinton. The Winterhawks need a win or their season is over.

After a scoreless and listless first period, the Winterhawks showed some energy in the second and jumped out to a 2-0 lead with two goals in a span of 19 seconds. Unfortunately, that would be all the offence they would manage as the Radars managed to keep them to the outside all night with few good scoring chances.

Jeff MacDermid scored first with assists to Trevor Smith and Greg Thede followed on the next shift by Curtis Johnston with assists to Alex Kuntz and Bryan Kazarian.

Clinton’s Tyler Doig responded two minutes later and Clinton tied it on a power play goal by Kyle Provily.

The Radars seized the lead with a goal off the stick of Luke Vick late in the second and the third period garnered no offence with the Radars managing to shut down the Winterhawks offence.

The Winterhawks will need a strong effort Saturday and if they win Game 7 will be at the Plex on Sunday starting at 3:30 p.m.
