After securing funds to play in the International Silver Stick competition in St. Clair Shores, Michigan January 20 to 22 through a community bottle drive, the Saugeen Shores Novice B Storm boys team placed fifth overall.
The team missed top four by one point in round robin play, after winning two games against the Columbus Blue Jackets 9-1, picking up an 8-2 win when they faced the Orillia Terriers. The team finally succumbed to the London Bandits 6-5, where their opponents quickly made up points to come back from a 4-1 deficit mid-game.
“It was a tough loss but [the team] had so much fun,” said Jessica Hall, mother of Storm players Sam and Ben Hall.
The Ayr Flames won the division.
