The Saugeen Shores Lifesaving Club (SSLC) travelled to Owen Sound this past weekend to compete at the 2016 Ontario Pool Junior Lifesaving Championships. Athletes have been training all season and their hard work and dedication showed in the results. This was the largest Junior competition that has ever been held with 16 different clubs from across the province and over 245 competitors throughout the week.

The competition was fierce, there were many races with nail biting finishes, some for which the winner was not known by athletes, coaches or competitors until official results were posted

SSLC athletes left it all in the pool and coaches could not be more proud. SSLC athletes were crowned with the title of Club Champions.

Coaches and athletes would like to thank the countless volunteers and officials who made the championship run smoothly. Without their time and effort, competitions like this would not exist.

Coaches and athletes will now turn their focus and attention on summer training at the beach. Summer Fundamentals starts July 4 with only only a few spaces remaining. If you have an athlete that wishes to train with SSLC make sure you chat with one of the coaches about the appropriate level and register with the Town of Saugeen Shores.

SSLC senior athletes are continuing to train in the pool and on the lake as four athletes have been selected to compete at international events this year. Carlin Reid will be competing at the Sanyo International in Japan this July and Maddi Ashton, McLean Reid and Mackenize Salmon will be competing for Canada at Rescue 2016 this September in the Netherlands.
